2008 Puligny Montrachet 'Les Folatieres', Domaine Bachelet Monnot, en primeur
The Bachelet brothers own 6 hectares of the 1er cru vineyard 'La Fussiere' in Maranges, which probably makes them the biggest land owners in this appellation. Marc and Alex Bachelet started with 7 hectares in 2005 and now farm 13, including some of their mothers', well-sited Puligny vineyards.

Ripe and buttery, with flavours of apples, lemons, dried fruit, honey and nuts; wine for seafood and steamed fresh fish. Southern Burgundy's Cave de Buxy is one of France's top three co-ops. With first refusal on fruit from 1000 hectares of vines owned by growers paid by quality rather than weight, they deliver stellar wines at stable prices. Jancis Robinson was charmed by this subtly-oaked Chardonnay from Montagny, a 70-year- old appellation of sun-trapping limestone slopes.

Les Domaniers are select wines produced from age-old vines, using traditional vinification methods and always bottled at the estate. A wine which reveal hints of iodine and scents of citrus and honey. Excellent as an aperitif. Can also be served with fish, cheese or exotic cuisine.
Chablis 1er Cru, 'Montmains' Domaine Brocard
Excellent premier cru Chablis, crisp and refined, with citrusy substance and smooth creaminess. Sunday lunch chez Brocard would see this sipped alongside roast ham with parsley sauce or a ripe Camembert. Julien Brocard was fortunate to take over the running of his father's vineyards just as they were officially certified as organic. He's continuing a tradition of precisely expressing a fascinating array of terroirs.
