LOUIS LATOUR – Grand Ardeche Chardonnay 2009 75cl Bottle

LOUIS LATOUR - Grand Ardeche Chardonnay 2009 75cl Bottle Yellow-green in colour, the Ardeche 2007 has a subtle nose of vanilla. On the palate there are soft notes of spice and vanilla. This is a round and powerful wine. Consistency of climate and abundant sunshine in the Ardeche perfectly ripen these bunches of grapes , whilst the drying Mistral wind eliminates any risk of rot. The Grand Ardeche is treated as if it were grown in one of the Grand Cru vineyards of the Cote-d'Or. Fully-ripened grapes are selected and pressed lightly before being aged in oak barrels made at the Latour cooperage in Beaune. The result is a full-bodied wine that is smooth with notes reminiscent of exotic fruits and vanilla spice imparted by the oak.

TYRRELLS – Winemakers Selection VAT 1 Semillon 1999 75cl Bottle

TYRRELLS - Winemakers Selection VAT 1 Semillon 1999 75cl Bottle A classic Hunter Valley Semillon showing a tightly structured palate with considerable length and breadth of citrus fruit flavours. This wine is beginning to display toasty bottle aged complexity. Whilst drinking well now, it will continue to develop delicious bottle age characters until at least 2012. Each wine follows a Vat numbering system representing the barrel the wine was either fermented or matured in. Tyrrell's Winemaker's Selection is one of Australia's oldest and most awarded collection of wines, unambiguously designed to surpass ordinary ageing criteria. The acid structure, length of flavour and age of the vineyards make these wines a premium offering. The Rufus Stone marks the accidental killing of King William Rufus by Sir Walter Tyrell (yes, one 'r' in those days) in 1100 and this historic association has been utilized for Tyrrell's top, non-Hunter regional red wine range. The grapes used for these wines come from Heathcote, McLaren Vale and the Limestone Coast regions in Australia. These wines allow the winemakers to use red wine styles and oak maturation techniques not normally used for traditional Hunter Valley Reds.
